Celebrating Summer Student Research Excellence

summer student research day 2025

On August 11, 2025, The Institute hosted its 9th annual Summer Student Research Day, bringing together more than 120 summer trainees to share their projects and connect with peers and mentors. The event featured 16 oral presentations and two poster sessions covering topics from neuroscience and infectious diseases to cancer, and respiratory health.

Many students presented their first scientific talks and posters, highlighting experiments, literature reviews, and lab collaborations. 12 presentations came from RESP program students that worked hard throughout the summer. The lively poster sessions encouraged discussion across disciplines, while oral sessions showcased advances in areas such as childhood development, antimicrobial discovery, genomics, cancer biology, and innovative care tools.

Executive Director Dr. Rhian Touyz praised the students’ dedication and achievements, while the organizing committee and program staff were recognized for their support. The day underscored The Institute’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and celebrating their contributions to research.
