The McGill Department of Medicine is pleased to announce Dr. Basil Petrof as the new Director of the Division of Respiratory Medicine, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Petrof is an internationally recognized leader in sleep-disordered breathing and respiratory muscle weakness. He currently serves as Director of the Meakins-Christie Laboratories and Co-Leader of the RI-MUHC Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program.
With a long-standing commitment to advancing patient care, research, and training, Dr. Petrof aims to strengthen the Division’s role as a global centre of excellence. His vision is to provide cutting-edge care while fostering innovations that connect fundamental discoveries with clinical practice, and to train the next generation of leaders in respiratory medicine.
