Superoxide dismutase activity confers (p)ppGpp mediated antibiotic tolerance to stationary-phase Pseudomonas aeruginosa was co-authored by Dorival Martins (First author), Geoffrey McKay, Gowthami Sampathkumara, Malika Khakimov, Ann English, and Dao Nguyen (Lead author) PNAS 2018

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global threat. AMR occurs when bacteria and other microbes become resistant to antibiotics, disinfectants and other antimicrobial products. With the launch of the new McGill Antimicrobial Resistance Centre, Montreal is becoming a powerhouse in understanding and preventing AMR. This new research hub brings together scientists from a wide range of disciplines to find solutions to the growing problem of AMR. Power Corporation of Canada recently made a $2M donation to the MUHC Foundation to help kick start the AMR Centre and the $20 M fundraising effort.

Dr. Nguyen is a member of the Meakins-Christie Laboratories, the RESP Program at the RI-MUHC, and Director of the McGill Antimicrobial Resistance Centre.
